Regular Season Round 4: Energa Czarni - Anwil 72-81

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Energa Czarni (2-1) in Slupsk on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Anwil (2-1) 81-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Energa Czarni. Energa Czarni was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-12 charge of Anwil, which allowed them to win the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Energa Czarni helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Corsley Edwards (205-79, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Krzysztof Szubarga (182-84) who added 18 points during the contest. Anwil's coach Emir Mutapcic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican guard Darnell Hinson (186-80, college: Northeastern St.) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds and American center David Weaver (209-87, college: Wake Forest) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Anwil and four Energa Czarni players scored in double figures. Anwil moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Energa Czarni. Anwil is looking forward to face Polpharma (#12) in Starogard in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Energa Czarni will play at home against Trefl Sopot (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
