Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked ratiopharm Ulm (4-1) beat at home 11th ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (2-3) 81-75 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Deutsche Bank Skyliners won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ratiopharm Ulm made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for ratiopharm Ulm especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and center John Bryant (208-87, college: Santa Clara) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. ratiopharm Ulm's coach Thorsten Leibenath used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Justin Gray (188-84, college: Wake Forest) responded with 14 points and 7 assists and forward Jon Leuer (208-89, college: Wisconsin, agency: Priority Sports) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. ratiopharm Ulm moved-up to third place, which they share with B.Muenchen. Loser Deutsche Bank Skyliners dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. ratiopharm Ulm will face bottom-ranked Walter Tigers (#18) in Tuebingen in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will play at home against ALBA Berlin (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
