There was no surprise in Bamberg where 9th ranked New Yorker Phantoms (2-3) were outplayed by leader Brose Baskets (4-0) 95-57 on Sunday. The game without a history. Brose Baskets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game. Brose Baskets forced 21 New Yorker Phantoms turnovers and had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brose Baskets made 8 blocks. New Yorker Phantoms were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International power forward Tibor Pleiss (214-89) stepped up and scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and American guard Brian Roberts (188-85, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Four Brose Baskets players scored in double figures. American guard Stephen Dennis (198-87, college: Kutztown) responded with 10 points and the other American import center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Brose Baskets. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Loser New Yorker Phantoms dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Brose Baskets will face Phoenix Hagen (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. New Yorker Phantoms will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#6).
