Regular Season Round 3: TU/Rock - Triumph 85-84

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Russian Triumph Lyubertsy (1-1) on the court of seventh ranked Estonian Tartu Ulikool on Monday night. Visitors were edged by Tartu Ulikool 85-84. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Triumph Lyubertsy won fourth quarter 26-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tartu Ulikool made 30-of-34 free shots (88.2 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Triumph Lyubertsy helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American forward Bill Amis (205-87, college: Hawaii) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 9 rebounds. Greek-Estonian guard Sten-Timmu Sokk (181-89) helped adding 13 points. Tartu Ulikool's coach Indrek Visnapuu used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Davon Jefferson (203-86, college: USC) with 24 points and guard Victor Zvarykin (199-86) scored 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Triumph Lyubertsy players scored in double figures. Tartu Ulikool (2-1) moved-up to third place in Elite, which they share with Kalev/Cramo and Rudupis. Triumph Lyubertsy at the other side dropped to the seventh position with one game lost. They share it with Pieno Zvaigzdes. Tartu Ulikool is looking forward to face Juventus (#8) in Utena in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Triumph Lyubertsy will have a break next round.
