Puerto Rico won the Gold at the Panamerican Games for the first time ever! They outplayed Mexico 85-67 in the Finals. Mexico was the host of this event and they finished with the Silver. Carla Cortijo was a key player in victory with 29 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. She reached impressive valuation 35! Angiely Morales and Yolanda Jones helped their country with 11 points each. On the other side, Erika Gomez shined with monster double-double of 33 points and 16 rebs. Abril Garcia was behind her with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Quarters: 14-11, 21-19, 25-19, 25-18. Puerto Rico reached Semifinals as No.2 of Group A with 2-1 record. They eliminated Brazil in thriller 68-69 for the gold medal game.
