Regular Season Round 8: Nitra - Svit 96-61

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Nitra and one of their biggest challengers Svit had identical 3-3 record. This time Nitra used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Svit 96-61 on Wednesday night. The game without a history. Nitra led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Svit's 28. Nitra forced 20 Svit turnovers and outrebounded them 32-16 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (185-86, college: Kansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and international center Roman Vido (203-88) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Nitra players scored in double figures. Latvian forward Martins Berkis (199-85, agency: Warren Sports International) responded with 13 points and American forward Lamar Roberson (203-86, college: La-Lafayette) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nitra maintains third position with 4-3 record having just two points less than leader Prievidza, which they share with Handlova and Komarno. Svit lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. Nitra will face league's leader Prievidza on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Svit will play against Handlova (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
