Regular Season Round 8: Nova Ves - Komarno 78-79

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Komarno (4-3) edged on the road second-ranked Nova Ves (5-3) 79-78 on Wednesday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Komarno outrebounded Nova Ves 42-28 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Louis Johnson (203-86, college: W.Illinois, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Johnathon Jones (183-88, college: Oakland, agency: TSS Management) who added 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Komarno players scored in double figures. The former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with 28 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and international center Michal Batka (204-87) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Komarno moved-up to third place, which they share with Handlova and Nitra. Nova Ves at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Komarno will face Vahostav-Zilina (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
