Regular Season Round 4: Vardar - Torus Skopje 67-79

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Skopje: Torus Skopje (#3) and Vardar (#5). Vardar was defeated at home 67-79 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as Vardar took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Torus Skopje had a 17-11 second period charge getting the lead and Vardar was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-79. Torus Skopje shot 22 for 33 from the free-throw line, while Vardar only scored six points from the stripe. They outrebounded Vardar 42-22 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vardar was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by the former international power forward Bojan Trajkovski (206-88, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds and American power forward Justin Reynolds (204-88, college: Texas A&M - C.C.) supported him with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Torus Skopje players scored in double figures. Torus Skopje's coach Slobodan Petrovski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 25 points by guard Darko Radulovic (194-80) did not help to save the game for Vardar. Guard Angel Tasevski (187-83) added 14 points and 6 assists for lost side. Torus Skopje have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Vardar dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Kumanovo and Lirija. Torus Skopje's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Skopje Lirija.
