Regular Season Round 21: Corr.Victoria - Huracanes 75-72

A very interesting game took place in Ciudad Victoria. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Huracanes (12-8) to tenth ranked Correcaminos (8-10) 75-72 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Huracanes. The hosts were ahead by 15 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 18-13 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Huracanes outrebounded Correcaminos 47-26 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Myron Allen (180-79, college: Lee JC) who scored 24 points. His fellow American import point guard Steve Monreal (180, college: Cal.St.-Monterey) chipped in 16 points. Correcaminos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan forward Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and U.S. Virgin Isl. Swingman Jason Edwin (197-81, college: Kent St.) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Correcaminos maintains tenth place with 8-10 record. Huracanes at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Correcaminos' next round opponent will be again higher ranked Huracanes (#5) in Tampico and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
