Regular Season Round 3: Barcelos - Barreirense 70-79

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Barreirense CEPSA and bottom-ranked Barcelos had identical 0-2 record. But Barcelos were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Barreiro 79-70. Barcelos were ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 30-16 third quarter run of Barreirense CEPSA. They made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward David Jackson (201-88, college: Penn St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) helped adding 15 points and 16 rebounds. Four Barreirense CEPSA players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Pedro Silva (198-79) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Barreirense CEPSA maintains seventh place with 1-2 record, which they share with Sampaense and Vitoria SC. Newly promoted Barcelos still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Ginasio and Academica. Barreirense CEPSA will play against Academica (#10) in Coimbra in the next round. Barcelos will play at home against CAB Madeira in Funchal and look forward to get finally their first victory.
