Regular Season Round 5: MZT Skopje - Vardar 90-79

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Skopje: MZT Skopje (#3) and Vardar (#5). MZT Skopje (4-1) won against visiting Vardar (1-3) 90-79. The game was mostly controlled by MZT Skopje. Vardar was better in second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MZT Skopje shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. American forward Noah Dahlman (200-89, college: Wofford) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Riste Stefanov (198-81, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 19 points. Guard Darko Radulovic (194-80) came up with 23 points and center Aleksandar Shterjov (206-86) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Vardar in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MZT Skopje maintains third place with 4-1 record behind leader Feni Indistrija. Vardar lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Kozuv and Lirija. MZT Skopje will play against ABA Strumica (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vardar's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Skopje Lirija.
