There was no surprise when bottom-ranked BG Illertal/Weissenhorn (0-8) lost on the road to seventh ranked Licher Baeren (4-4) 89-73 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. It was a very good performance for American guard Brandon Chappell (183-83, college: Lamar) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 assists. Power forward Daniel Dorr (202-83) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American guard Gene Hagner (190-83) replied with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Croatian center Mirko Soyer (212-78) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for BG Illertal/Weissenhorn. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Licher Baeren moved-up to sixth place in Group South, which they share with Langen and Hanau. Loser BG Illertal/Weissenhorn still closes the standings with eight games lost. Licher Baeren will face higher ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BG Illertal/Weissenhorn will play against TV 1862 Langen (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
