Regular Season Round 6: Vardar - Lirija 61-70

The biggest surprise of round 6 in Superleague was guest Lirija's (2-3) road victory over Vardar (#7) 70-61 on Saturday evening. Vardar trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 21-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 61-70 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American power forward Dustin Mitchell (206, college: WiscKing.-Whitew.) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. Naturalized Serbian center Toni Simic (210-76) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Mitchell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Lirija players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Vladimir Georgievski (194-82) who recorded 13 points and 5 rebounds and guard Darko Radulovic (194-80) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. Vardar's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lirija moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kumanovo. Vardar lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Rabotnicki and Kozuv. Lirija is looking forward to face Kozuv (#6) in Gergelija in the next round. Vardar will play on the road against ABA Strumica and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
