Rather expected game when 6th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (3-3) was crushed on the road by top-ranked Tapiolan Honka (5-0) 88-67 on Sunday. The game without a history. Tapiolan Honka led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Tapiolan Honka forced 23 Lapuan Korikobrat turnovers and outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 44-33 including a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Ilkka Sirola (197-86) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Anselmi Vanjoki (193-88) chipped in 20 points and 4 steals. Five Tapiolan Honka players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Eric Williams (198-85, college: Tarleton St.) who recorded 26 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Emmanuel Jackson (188, college: Seton Hill) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tapiolan Honka have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Tapiolan Honka will meet BC Nokia (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lapuan Korikobrat will play against Oulun NMKY and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
