Very expected game when 8th ranked UU-Korihait (5-6) was smashed by fourth ranked Torpan Pojat (7-3) in Uusikaupunki 97-77 on Monday. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 62-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Torpan Pojat outrebounded UU-Korihait 40-29 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Carl Lindbom (204-91) who led his team to a victory with 30 points. American swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Forward Cedric Latimer (198-87, college: St.Francis, PA) replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Shawn Vanzant (183-88, college: Butler) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for UU-Korihait. Five Torpan Pojat and four UU-Korihait players scored in double figures. Torpan Pojat moved-up to second place, which they share with Kataja. UU-Korihait at the other side dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Torpan Pojat will face league's leader Loimaan Korikonkarit at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UU-Korihait will play against Kauhajoen Karhu (#4) in Kauhajoki.
