Regular Season Round 9: A.Ford Burgos - Menorca 64-65

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Ford Burgos (7-2) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked Menorca Basquet (5-4) 65-64. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Ford Burgos. Ford Burgos was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for point guard Daniel Perez (188-90) who saved his team from a defeat with 19 points and 5 assists. Center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Daniel Lopez (188-82) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Ford Burgos. Four Ford Burgos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Menorca Basquet moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Palencia and Breogan. Ford Burgos at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Lleida and Canarias. Menorca Basquet is looking forward to face higher ranked Melilla Baloncesto (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ford Burgos will play against the league's second-placed Canarias (#2) in Tenerife and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
