The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Estonian BC Rakvere's (1-2) road loss to second ranked Lithuanian Neptunas (3-1) in Klaipeda 70-103 on Friday. Neptunas made 29-of-31 free shots (93.5 percent) during the game, while BC Rakvere only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded BC Rakvere 42-22 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Neptunas shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for swingman Mantas Ruikis (197-85) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 4 assists. Guard Martynas Mazeika (193-85, agency: Limelight Hoops) contributed with 22 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Center Viljar Veski (215-86) replied with 15 points and 6 rebounds and center Reinar Hallik (208-84) added 17 points in the effort for BC Rakvere. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Neptunas maintains second position in Group A with 3-1 record behind leader Naglis Palangos. Loser BC Rakvere keeps the third place with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
