Bottom-ranked ABA Strumica managed to get a second victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time they edged fifth-ranked Kumanovo 2009 70-69. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But Kumanovo 2009 won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ABA Strumica shot 63.0 percent from the field. The best player for the winners was Petre Cvetkov who scored 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Naturalized Greek guard Kosta Karamanolev (188-87) chipped in 14 points. ABA Strumica's coach Stratos Koukoulekidis used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. International guard Aleksandar Kostoski (188-88, agency: Global Sports Plaza) produced 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Serbian guard Darko Matic (192-84, agency: 011 Sports) added 17 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for the guests. Four Kumanovo 2009 players scored in double figures. ABA Strumica (2-6) moved-up to seventh place. Kumanovo 2009 lost third consecutive game. Loser Kumanovo 2009 dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. ABA Strumica will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kumanovo 2009 will play against Vardar (#5) in Skopje and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
