Regular Season Round 7: Neptunas - Rudupis 80-73

The game between third ranked Rudupis (5-2) and sixth ranked Neptunas (3-3) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Rudupis was defeated by Neptunas in a tough game in Klaipeda 73-80. Rudupis trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 19-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-80 at the end of the game. Neptunas dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rudupis' 34. Neptunas forced 19 Rudupis turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Simas Galdikas (203-87) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Mantas Ruikis (197-85) contributed with 19 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Neptunas' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Gediminas Orelikas (199-90) answered with 15 points and forward Povilas Butkevicius (203-87) added 17 points in the effort for Rudupis. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Neptunas went down to seventh position due to points difference. Rudupis at the other side keeps the third place with two games lost. Neptunas are looking forward to face Kedainiai (#10) at home in the next round. Rudupis will have a break next round.
