Regular Season Round 7: Sakalai - Naglis Palangos 65-76

Naglis Palangos' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after six consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Vilnius, where they defeated Sakalai (2-6) 76-65. Sakalai was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 47-34 second half run of Naglis Palangos. It was a great evening for American swingman Bilal Benn (196-86, college: Niagara) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import center Dane Johnson (208-86, college: Hofstra) helped adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. Benn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side guard Augustas Peciukevicius (191-91) responded with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and center Rolandas Matulis (199-73) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Sakalai's coach Kazys Maksvytis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Naglis Palangos (1-6) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place. Sakalai at the other side dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Naglis Palangos will play against league's second-placed Siauliai on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sakalai will play against Techasas (#12) in Panevezys and hopes to get back on the winning track.
