Science City Jena defeated Cuxhaven BasCats 83-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Science City Jena. Cuxhaven BasCats managed to win third quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Tyler Kepkay (183-87, college: Utah, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 assists. American guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) helped adding 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Science City Jena's coach Georg Eichler used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Quinnel Brown (198-83, college: Auburn) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized American forward Dorian McDaniel (198-87, college: Prairie View A&M) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Science City Jena moved-up to sixth place. Loser Cuxhaven BasCats keep the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Heidelberg and NBC. Science City Jena will meet Ehingen/Urspringschule (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cuxhaven BasCats will play against Webmoebel Baskets (#5) in Paderborn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
