Regular Season Round 9: Liege - Aalstar 77-76

The most exciting game of round 9 in the D1 took place in Liege. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Okapi Aalstar (4-4) to seventh ranked Belgacom Liege (3-4) 77-76 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-76. Belgacom Liege forced 22 Okapi Aalstar turnovers. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for point guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St.) who saved his team from a defeat with 17 points and 4 assists. Forward Josh Bostic (196-87, college: Findlay, OH) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Kevin Kruger (186-83, college: UNLV) answered with 20 points and guard Stefon Jackson (196-85, college: UTEP) added 15 points in the effort for Okapi Aalstar. Belgacom Liege maintains seventh place with 3-4 record. Okapi Aalstar lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Belgacom Liege will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Okapi Aalstar will play on the road against Dexia Mons-Hainaut (#4) in Quaregnon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
