Regular Season Round 7: Valmiera - Lietkabelis 81-65

There was a minor upset when leader Lithuanian Techasas (6-1) were defeated on the road by third ranked Latvian Valmiera (5-2) 81-65 on Tuesday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group B. The game was mostly controlled by Valmiera. Techasas was better in second period 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American guard Jai Lucas (177, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 4 assists. Forward Ernests Kalve (200-87) helped adding 22 points. Four Valmiera players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Ernestas Ezerskis (192-87) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Valmiera moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Kalev/Cramo. Loser Techasas still keep top position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
