Regular Season Round 7: Batumi - Dinamo Tbilisi 66-98

Bottom-ranked Batumi (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 98-66 loss to eighth ranked Dinamo Tbilisi (3-4) in Batumi. The game was mostly controlled by Dinamo Tbilisi. Batumi was better in third quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Batumi to just 6 points in first quarter. Dinamo Tbilisi dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 36. They outrebounded Batumi 44-22 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dinamo Tbilisi players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Batumi's players. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Keyon Carter (203-88, college: ODU, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). Swingman Duda Sanadze (196-92) accounted for 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Dinamo Tbilisi's coach Davit Tortladze felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Irakli Mikeladze (179-94) added 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for Batumi in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Dinamo Tbilisi. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Samedicino. Batumi lost their sixth game in a row. They still closes the standings with six games lost. Dinamo Tbilisi will have a break next round. Batumi will play on the road against the league's second-placed Olympus (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
