There was no surprise when 8th ranked Spartak Pleven (1-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Tundja Yambol (4-3) 82-73 on Saturday. Spartak Pleven trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 18-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-82 at the end of the game. Tundja Yambol dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 28. They outrebounded Spartak Pleven 38-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American center John Ofoegbu (206-84, college: Idaho St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Martin Durchev (200-87) helped adding 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Simeon Tsenov (196-82) responded with 27 points and 8 rebounds and guard Tsvetoslav Ostrev (184-86) scored 14 points. Spartak Pleven's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tundja Yambol moved-up to third place, which they share with Cherno More and Rilski Sportist. Spartak Pleven lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. They share it with Chernomorets and Balkan. Tundja Yambol will meet at home league's second-placed Levski Sofia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spartak Pleven will play against the league's leader Lukoil Academik (#1) in Sofia.
