Regular Season Round 8: Rudupis - Kalev/Cramo 72-64

The game between Top Four teams took place in Prienai. Second ranked Lithuanian host Rudupis (7-1) defeated one of their biggest challengers Estonian Kalev/Cramo (5-3) 72-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kalev/Cramo. Kalev/Cramo was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Rudupis players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Kalev/Cramo's players. The winners were led by forward Simas Buterlevicius (200-89) who scored that evening 15 points and power forward Saulius Kuzminskas (210-82, college: California) supported him with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Rudupis' coach Virginijus Seskus used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by Latvian guard Armands Skele (192-83) did not help to save the game for Kalev/Cramo. Swingman Gregor Arbet (194-83) added 15 points for the guests. Rudupis have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Elite with 7-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Siauliai. Defending Estonian champion Kalev/Cramo keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Ventspils. Rudupis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kalev/Cramo will play at home against the league's leader Siauliai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
