Very expected game when 9th ranked SAM Massagno (1-8) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Monthey (6-3) 67-60 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But SAM Massagno won third quarter 13-5. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) fired 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International guard Steeve Louissaint (190-87) chipped in 13 points. American forward Travele Jones (203, college: Texas Southern) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Chris Kaba (203, college: N.Colorado) added 22 points respectively for lost side. Monthey have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 6-3 record. Loser SAM Massagno stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. They share the position with Boncourt. Monthey will meet at home BBC Nyon (#7) in the next round. SAM Massagno will play against Boncourt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
