Regular Season Round 7: Priolo - Alcamo 51-59

Alcamo can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Priolo, where they defeated Priolo (1-6) 59-51. It looked good early as Priolo took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Alcamo had a 16-7 second period charge getting the lead and Priolo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 51-59. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Priolo to just 7 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (193-85, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Chiara Rossi (170-88) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Alcamo players scored in double figures. Cuban forward Tania Seino (186-73) answered with 12 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian swingman Tanja Cirov (181-81) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Priolo. Priolo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alcamo left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Priolo and Cagliari CUS. Alcamo will play against higher ranked Pall.Pozzuoli (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Priolo will play against the league's leader Taranto (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
