The game in Strumica was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Lirija (5-5) played at the court of 8th ranked ABA Strumica (2-8). Lirija defeated ABA Strumica 83-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Lirija. ABA Strumica managed to win third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian guard Vladimir Filipovic (195-85) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Serbian forward Nenad Zivcevic (204-87) accounted for 21 points for the winning side. Four Lirija players scored in double figures. Forward Jove Kurciev (197-87) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and American center John Chappell (208, college: S.Carolina) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for ABA Strumica in the defeat. ABA Strumica's coach Stratos Koukoulekidis rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lirija moved-up to fourth place. Loser ABA Strumica keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Lirija will meet at home Kumanovo 2009 (#5) in the next round. ABA Strumica will play against Kozuv in Gergelija and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
