There was no surprise in Rostov where 9th ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (1-8) was defeated by third ranked Ataman (7-2) 74-68 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 18-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Ataman forced 20 Sojuz Zaretchny turnovers. Point guard Dramir Zibirov (187-86) stepped up and scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international guard Sergei Vorotnikov (194-78) chipped in 16 points. Ataman's coach Valentin Kubrakov used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side center Dmitriy Ponosov (220-84) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Kirill Slepukha (181-90) scored 11 points. Ataman moved-up to second place. Sojuz Zaretchny lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Ataman will again meet at home bottom-ranked Sojuz Zaretchny (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sojuz Zaretchny will have a break next round.
