Regular Season Round 13: Jena - Finke Baskets 77-68
Date: December 2, 2011
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Webmoebel Baskets (6-6) were defeated on the road by eighth ranked Science City Jena (7-6) 77-68 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-18. But Webmoebel Baskets won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Kenny Barker (191-86, college: Alaska-Anch.) stepped up and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import forward Jeremy Black (203-85, college: Tampa) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Jefferson Mason (198-88, college: Minnesota St., agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and forward Michael Jost (204-88) scored 12 points. Webmoebel Baskets' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Science City Jena moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Chemnitz. Webmoebel Baskets lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. Science City Jena will have a break next round. Webmoebel Baskets will play at home against Gloria Giants (#3) in Duesseldorf.
