D-League
Regular Season Round 4: Springfield A. - Ft.Wayne MA 110-118
Date: December 2, 2011
The Springfield Armor nearly did it again. Another poor shooting night, their second in two games, very nearly equated to a second win for the Armor, but the Fort Wayne Mad Ants held off a late rally to win 118-110 Friday night before 3,620 at the MassMutual Center. Springfield (1-1), which shot 33 percent in its opening-night win over Maine, had a better overall shooting percentage, but was dismal from the 3-point arc and struggled at the foul line. Fort Wayne (2-0), on the other hand, was excellent from long range and from the charity stripe, maximizing every opportunity the Armor gave it. A basket by newcomer Jeff Foote (13 points, 12 rebounds) was followed by a Curry steal and a 3-pointer by Jerry Smith (22 points) to make it 104-103 with 1:08 to play. But the Armor struggled to score again and the Mad Ants made 4 straight foul shots to pull away. Jones finished with a game-high 31 points and Walker Russell scored 24. *Courtesy of www.masslive.com
