Regular Season Round 9: Naglis Palangos - Lietkabelis 70-66

Bottom-ranked Techasas (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 70-66 loss to eleventh ranked Naglis Palangos (2-7) in Palanga on Saturday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-11. But Techasas won second period 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naglis Palangos had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Dane Johnson (208-86, college: Hofstra) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Bilal Benn (196-86, college: Niagara) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Benn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was center Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (188-89, agency: Alti Sport) added 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Naglis Palangos maintains eleventh place with 2-7 record. Techasas at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Naglis Palangos are looking forward to face higher ranked Pieno Zvaigzdes (#8) in Pasvalys in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Techasas will have a break next round.
