Regular Season Round 8: Armia - Rustavi 81-49
Date: December 3, 2011
Superleague top team - Armia (7-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Energy Invest (0-7) in Tbilisi 81-49. The game without a history. Armia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Armia outrebounded Energy Invest 52-29 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Buba Kvimsadze (195-82) who scored that evening 16 points and the former international forward Irakli Sakvarelidze (201-86, college: Dominican, NY) supported him with 9 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Even 11 points and 6 assists by guard Davit Artsividze (178-83) did not help to save the game for Energy Invest. Forward Gela Kopaliani (193-90) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Armia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 7-0 record. Loser Energy Invest still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Batumi. Armia will meet Batumi (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Energy Invest will play against TSU in Tbilisi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
