Regular Season Round 32: Pioneros - Toros 86-92

An interesting game for Toros (22-9) which played road game in Cancun against one of their biggest challengers Pioneros (20-11). Third ranked Toros managed to get a 6-point victory 92-86. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Pioneros won fourth quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toros made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Toros outrebounded Pioneros 35-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Nigerian forward Ike Ofoegbu (205-85, college: SMU, agency: Paris Global Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76, agency: Paris Global Sports) who added 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) responded with 29 points (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import point guard Gregory Grays (185-79, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Interperformances) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. Toros maintains third position with 22-9 record behind leader Halc.Rojos. Pioneros at the other side keep the fourth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Huracanes. Toros will play against Abejas (#9) in Guanajuato in the next round where they are favorite. Pioneros will play on the road against Halcones UV Xalapa (#7) and hope to get back on the winning track.
