Regular Season Round 6: Iowa E. - Erie Bay H. 87-97

Date: December 4, 2011
Donald Sloan (6'3'-G-88, college: Texas A&M) scored a game-high 21 points for the Erie BayHawks, who salvaged a split of their two-game series at Iowa with Sunday afternoon's 97-87 victory. It was the first road win of the new NBA Development League season for the BayHawks, who lost 112-108 Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The BayHawks (2-3) never trailed Sunday's matinee after a 5-0 mini-run midway through the second quarter. Two free throws from center Chris Daniels left Erie up 36-31 with 5 minutes, 53 seconds left. Erie built a 51-40 lead at halftime and maintained its 11-point margin at 74-63 after three quarters. The Energy (3-3) pulled within seven when Andrew Drevo's jumper made it 83-76 with 6:50 left to play, but they came no closer. The BayHawks led by at least 10 the rest of the way when forward Mychel Thompson (6'7'-F-88, college: Pepperdine) converted a 3-pointer on their next possession. Daniels recorded a double-double for the BayHawks with his 15 points and 13 rebounds. He was one of four Erie starters who scored in double figures, with Sloan good for his 21, followed by Tirrell Baines (6'6'-F-86, agency: Interperformances, college: Marshall) with 18 and Thompson with 15. Brandon Ewing (6'2'-G-86, agency: Interperformances, college: Wyoming) sparked the Energy with 17 points. Moses Ehambe totaled 13, while Nick Murphy and Jarrid Famous each contributed 12. Sloan was Erie's top scorer in each game at Iowa. The guard contributed 29 points in Saturday night's four-point loss. Thompson followed with 21 points. Daniels added 14 points and 10 boards. The BayHawks had few defensive answers in that game for Ehambe, who finished with 31 points. Erie returns to action Friday, when it hosts the expansion Canton Charge at Tullio Arena.
