There was a minor upset when leader Lithuanian Naglis Palangos (5-1) lost to fourth ranked Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (3-2) in Palanga 64-72 on Friday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-64. Barsy Atyrau forced 20 Naglis Palangos turnovers. It was a good game for power forward Mikhail Evstigneev (202-84) who led his team to a victory with 9 points and 13 rebounds. Ukrainian guard Pavlo Tsiopych (182-86) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Barsy Atyrau's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Mindaugas Reminas (190-86) answered with 20 points and Russian forward Nikita Barinov (200-91) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Naglis Palangos. Defending Kazakhstan champion moved-up to third place in Group A. Loser Naglis Palangos still keep top position with one game lost. Barsy Atyrau will face BC Rakvere (#4) on the road in the next round.
