Regular Season Round 13: Sokol Lancut - P.Cukier SIDEn 79-71

There was a change at the 1Liga leadership position after last games. Round 13 most important game was a defeat of league's leader P.Cukier SIDEn (9-3). They were defeated by second ranked Sokol Lancut (9-3) 79-71 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of P.Cukier SIDEn. It was a key game for the top position in the league. P.Cukier SIDEn was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-12 charge of Sokol Lancut, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to P.Cukier SIDEn's 22. Sokol Lancut forced 26 P.Cukier SIDEn turnovers and outrebounded them 39-18 including a 20-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sokol Lancut made 11 blocks. Forward Wojciech Pisarczyk (201-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and forward Bartosz Dubiel (195-84) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Sokol Lancut players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Przemyslaw Lewandowski (204-78, agency: Promotex) responded with 24 points and 4 assists (made all of his seventeen free throws !!!) and forward Arkadiusz Kobus (197-86, agency: Promotex) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Sokol Lancut keeps a position of league leader, which they share with P.Cukier SIDEn and Start Gdynia. P.Cukier SIDEn will play next round against strong Start Gdynia trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Sokol Lancut will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked AZS Szczecin on the road.
