Regular Season Round 13: Challans - Brest 82-71

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Etendard de Brest (7-6) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Vendee Challans (7-6) 82-71. Etendard de Brest was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Vendee Challans forced 19 Etendard de Brest turnovers and outrebounded them 35-23 including 22 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Josh Almanson (205-82, college: Bowling Green) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Fabien Herard (198-79) contributed with 14 points and 7 assists for the winners. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Pridotkas (200-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and center Rafael Lopez (204-86) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Etendard de Brest. Five Vendee Challans and four Etendard de Brest players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Brest and Chartres. Vendee Challans' next round opponent will be higher ranked Souffelweyersheim (#5) in Souffel. and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
