Regular Season Round 15: SU Medien - Schwelm 85-81

Date: December 10, 2011
There was no surprise in Braunschweig where 6th ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (8-6) were defeated by second ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (10-4) 85-81 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 20-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was guard Dennis Schroeder (186-93) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Center Daniel Theis (207-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jason Holmes (191-86, college: Le Moyne) who recorded 22 points and 5 rebounds and center Julius Ducker (205-84) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. Spot Up Medien Baskets have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group North with 10-4 record having just -1 point less than leader BSW Sixers, which they share with Vechta. Loser SG Schwelmer Baskets dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Spot Up Medien Baskets will face RSV Eintracht (#7) in Stahnsdorf in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play at home against SSV Lok Bernau.
