The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Estonian BC Rakvere's (4-2) home victory over one of their biggest challengers Kazakhstan Barsy Atyrau (3-5) 89-84 on Thursday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Barsy Atyrau won third quarter 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BC Rakvere made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Barsy Atyrau was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Valmo Kriisa (190-74) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Latvian swingman Juris Umbrasko (197-79) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five BC Rakvere players scored in double figures. At the losing side Latvian guard Reinis Strupovics (192-87) responded with 22 points and 5 steals and Ukrainian guard Pavlo Tsiopych (182-86) scored 8 points and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BC Rakvere maintains third position in Group A with 4-2 record behind leader Naglis Palangos. Defending Kazakhstan champion Barsy Atyrau keeps the fourth place with five games lost. BC Rakvere will face league's second-placed Neptunas in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
