Regular Season Round 12: DCU Saints - UCC Demons 93-78

Round 12 in SuperLeague means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Dublin where host DCU Saints (11-2) beat league's leader UCC Demons (6-4) 93-78 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UCC Demons. DCU Saints dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to UCC Demons' 44. They outrebounded UCC Demons 51-36 including 17 on the offensive glass. DCU Saints looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Keith Anderson (188-89) who scored 27 points and 6 steals (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Latvian center Martins Provizors (202-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Shawn Atupem (200-89, college: Mt.St.Mary's) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and guard Niall Murphy (180-86) added 21 points and 8 rebounds respectively. DCU Saints have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-2 record. UCC Demons at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by DCU Saints. UCC Demons will play next round against league's leader B.Gais Neptune trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Cork - B.Gais Neptune. DCU Saints will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked 11890 Killester in Dublin.
