The game in Kecskemet was also quite interesting. Second ranked Kormend (10-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Kecskemeti (6-5). Kormend did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kormend. Kecskemeti managed to win fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kecskemeti 32-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Darian Townes (208-84) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Rashad Bell (201-82, college: Boston U.) accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Kormend's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Serbian guard Ivan Vukadinov (193-81) came up with 19 points and the former international forward Gabor Denes (197-82, agency: TSS Management) added 15 points respectively for Kecskemeti in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Kormend. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Albacomp. Kecskemeti lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Kaposvari. Kormend will meet at home Szolnok (#4) in the next round. Kecskemeti will play against Jaszberenyi and hope to secure a win.
