Second Stage Day 3: SAUDI ARABIA - IRAQ 79-85

Iraq celebrated the second straight win at the second stage of Pan Arab Games in Doha. They held off Saudi Arabia to improve at 2-0 record in Group F. Iraq will now take on Lebanon for the 7th-8th place at the tournament. Saudi Arabia fell at 0-2 record and would face Sudan for the 11th-12th position. Iraq managed to build a narrow 21:19 lead after ten minutes of action. Saudi Arabia pulled ahead early in the second quarter but Iraq bounced back and secured a 41:33 halftime lead. The teams went neck and neck throughout the third quarter. Iraq entered the final frame up by a single point 59:58. They were able to clear off early in the final stanza to take an 8-point lead. Saudi Arabia fought till the final seconds but Iraq wisely kept their opponents at bay and earned a hard-fought win at the end. Mohammed Mahdi notched 21 points and 15 rebounds. Ali Ismael added 14 points for the winners. Fahad Belal replied with 25 points for Saudi Arabia. Ahmed Samater delivered 19 points and 8 rebounds in the losing case.
