Regular Season Round 15: Liaoning H. - Shanxi Zh. 120-117

There was a minor upset in Yingkou where 6th ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (7-6) was edged by ninth ranked Liaoning Hunters (7-7) 120-117 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Liaoning Hunters made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Shanxi Zhongyu was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for center Dejun Han (215-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 38 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 15-of-17 shooting from the field). American forward Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) helped adding 16 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American swingman Marcus Williams (201-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) with 37 points (!!!) and the other American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. Four Liaoning Hunters and five Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Liaoning Hunters moved-up to seventh place, which they share with DongGuan L. Loser Shanxi Zhongyu keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Liaoning Hunters will face Bayi Fubang (#10) in Ningbo in the next round.
