Regular Season Round 11: Batumi - Kutaisi 80-107

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Kutaisi (8-2) crushed on the road 10th ranked Batumi (1-9) 107-80. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Batumi was better in third quarter 29-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 44. They outrebounded Batumi 53-23 including a 41-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kutaisi players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. The best player for the winners was center Richard Matiashvili (209-89) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 20 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Rezo Didia (203-87) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Coach Malkhaz Kokhreidze's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Levan Eliadze (197-92) added 18 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Kutaisi and four Batumi players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Kutaisi. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Olympus. Batumi at the other side keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
