Regular Season Round 16: Z*Kebs de Laval - London L. 94-79

Date: December 27, 2011
Santa brought the London Lightning a first place standing a third of the way in to the NBL Canada season, but the Lightning should have realized that the Kebs were thinking 'new year' heading into their matchup. A 94-79 loss was not the way that the Lightning wanted to begin their post - Christmas road trip in front of the fans in Quebec. 'We didn't play well and we didn't shoot the ball well,' explained Coach Michael Ray Richardson on his teams performance. 'The five days off really hurt us this game. It was one of those games. We played pretty good early but we couldn't get over the hump.' In sticking to his usual formula for success, Richardson went very deep into his bench as all 12 players saw action in the game. Gabe Freeman (6'6'-F-85, college: Costa Mesa JC) posted a double double (10 points, 13 boards); however, Quebec distributed the ball more efficiently and outrebounded the Lightning by 19. Ralphy Holmes (6'4'-G-79, college: CS Fullerton) led the winners with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The Lightning now travel to Saint John for a Thursday night game, tipping off at 7:00pm. They return home to take on Moncton for the first game in the New year, January 1st, at 2:00pm. Courtesy of www.oursportscentral.com
