Regular Season Round 18: Guangdong ST - Zhejiang CB 92-97

The most important game in the last round took place in Dongguan between second ranked Guandong Tigers (13-4) and fourth ranked Zhejiang Cyclones (10-6) on Friday night. Guandong Tigers were defeated by Zhejiang Cyclones in a tough game at home 92-97. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Guandong Tigers. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Guandong Tigers won third quarter 29-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zhejiang Cyclones dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Guandong Tigers' 44. Zhejiang Cyclones forced 21 Guandong Tigers turnovers. 30 personal fouls committed by Guandong Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American power forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. The other American import guard J.R. Smith (198-85) contributed with 27 points and 5 steals for the winners. International forward FangYu Zhu (201-83) replied with 24 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Aaron Brooks (183-85, college: Oregon) added 20 points and 6 assists in the effort for Guandong Tigers. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Zhejiang Cyclones maintains fourth position with 10-6 record. Guandong Tigers at the other side keep the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Guangsha L.. Zhejiang Cyclones are looking forward to face DongGuan Leopards (#5) on the road in the next round. Guandong Tigers will play against Jiangsu Dragons in Nanjing and are hoping to win this game.
