The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Abejas won second period 24-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barreteros made 20-of-23 charity shots (87.0 percent) during the game. American forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara, agency: TSS Management) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Louis White (192-76, college: Voorhees) chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Barreteros players scored in double figures. American-Jamaican forward Mattis McHugh (198-84, college: S.Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Jesus Verdejo (193-85, college: S.Florida) scored 27 points.
