The game in Tartu was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Latvian Ventspils (7-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Estonian Tartu Ulikool (4-8). Ventspils managed to secure a 7-point victory 82-75 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-75. Ventspils dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tartu Ulikool's 40. It was a great evening for American guard Jahmar Young (196-86, college: N.Mexico St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points. His fellow American import guard Steven Gray (195-89, college: Gonzaga) helped adding 16 points. Swingman Marek Doronin (200-83) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and center Vallo Allingu (206-78) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ventspils moved-up to fifth place in Elite. Tartu Ulikool lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Ventspils will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tartu Ulikool will play against Kedainiai (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
